Postponement of Underwater Archaeological Fieldschool

29. Mai 2020
1 von 1

Unfortunately, due to the still ongoing COVID-19 situation, we have to postpone our underwater archaeological fieldschool.

On the one hand because of the great planning uncertainty, especially for participants from abroad, but also because of the health risks associated with diving and COVID-19, which still cannot be clearly assessed. A detailed explanation (unfortunately only in German) of the reasons why diving is not safe can be found here. In short, it can be said that the new Sars-CoV-2 mainly affects the respiratory tract and the effects in interaction with the stress caused by diving are not predictable. As it is still not possible to say what percentage of infections is undetected because they are asymptomatic, the risk seems too high in our eyes.

In combination with the still lack of freedom to travel and the unpredictable development of the situation, the uncertainties seem too great. For this reason we postpone the fieldschool until autumn 2021 and hope for even greater interest and success. There will be a new program and registration in due course. If you are already interested and want to make sure not to miss anything, please feel free to send us a message at info@pfahlbauten.at.

Until then, stay tuned and we hope to see many of you in 2021.
