Surabhi Ranavat ist Evolutionsbiologin und beschäftigt sich vorwiegend mit Pflanzen. Sie schloss ihr Studium am Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Bhopal, Indien, mit einem Doppelabschluss in Biowissenschaften (BS-MS) ab und promovierte an der Universität Edinburgh, Großbritannien. Derzeit arbeitet sie als Postdoktorandin am Institut für Archäologie der Universität York im Rahmen des Projekts „Hidden Frontiers“, wo sie alte DNA aus Nutzpflanzen wie Weizen und Flachs analysiert, um deren Anpassung an Fundstätten aus der Jungsteinzeit und Bronzezeit in den mitteleuropäischen Alpen besser zu verstehen.

Surabhi Ranavat is an evolutionary biologist, working predominantly on plants. She graduated with a BS-MS dual degree in Biological Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal in India, and received her PhD from the University of Edinburgh, UK. She currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Archaeology, University of York as a part of the Hidden Frontiers project, where she is analysing ancient DNA from crops such as wheat and flax to better understand their adaptation across Neolithic and Bronze Age sites in the Central European Alps.
