The annual DEGUWA conference 2017 on underwater archaeology IN POSEIDON'S REALM XXII on the subject of „We are all in the same boat – On the significance of ships, boats and floats in society and culture“ will be taking place in Koblenz, 17.-19.3.2017.

We would welcome papers on these questions, as well as reports from the latest projects on new scientific methods and technologies in all areas of underwater and wetland archaeology. Equally welcome would be presentations on recent research and excavations of sites below the groundwater table or in maritime and limnic areas.

You are cordially invited to submit an application for presentation or poster, please, complete with a title and a 250-word abstract (incl. – if possible – 2 illustrations which could be used for the announcement of the conference), to the following email address:

All accepted contributions are going to be published in SKYLLIS, the DEGUWA semi-annual for underwater archaeology.

We would very much appreciate timely applications. Please note that the number of presentation slots is limited, as there will be no parallel presentations.

The Executive Committee is happy to invite you to the city of Koblenz, the roman Confluentes, at the conjunction of the Moselle and the Rhine, the Deutsches Eck to share research and information - and to celebrate! For this occasion, participants will have the chance to join a cultural programme with guided tours.
